Why Choose Compassionate Care?

Our Mission

Hello and welcome to Compassionate Care ABA!

My name is Rachel Souza, and I’m thrilled to share my journey and the heart of my practice with you. For over two decades, I’ve dedicated my life to supporting individuals with autism, driven by a deep belief in making a positive, meaningful impact.

My adventure in this field began at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where I pursued my passion for applied behavior analysis (ABA). Since becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2009, I’ve worked closely with families right in their homes, building a foundation of trust and understanding that’s crucial to the work we do together. In addition to my in-home support, I have amassed significant experience working within the school system, further enriching my understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities presented in educational settings.

My extensive experience with transition-age youth has been a pivotal aspect of my career, underscoring the critical juncture as these young individuals prepare to navigate the leap from structured educational environments to the broader, often less supported, adult world. This experience illuminated the stark scarcity of options and supports available once school-based services conclude, a realization that profoundly shaped the direction of Compassionate Care ABA. Recognizing the profound impact of this transition, I've been motivated to extend my services beyond the traditional boundaries, focusing on developing programs that bridge this gap. My work now emphasizes creating continuous, seamless support systems that facilitate not just a successful transition into adulthood but also ensure sustained engagement and growth in all areas of life for individuals with autism. This shift towards including adult services is driven by a commitment to holistic, life-long support, acknowledging that the journey doesn't end with adolescence but rather evolves into new challenges and opportunities for growth.

Our ongoing services include close oversight of the Behavior Plan, offering modifications, consultations, and education to ensure its effectiveness. We work directly with individuals and caregivers, providing in-person and, when appropriate, telehealth support to facilitate the implementation of the plan.

Brief Support Services Implementation

Brief Support Services Implementation

We provide direct, time-limited assistance to families, staff, and caregivers, enabling them to independently implement the Behavior Plan through on-site execution, modeling of strategies, and providing feedback on its effectiveness.

Comprehensive ABA Services

All our services are provided by certified professionals (BCBAs) and are tailored to address the client’s specific needs through a detailed treatment plan. This plan encompasses behavior assessments, antecedent and consequence manipulations, and a comprehensive instruction level based on the client's individual needs.

Collaborative and Informed Care

We ensure that the results of behavior assessments are shared with the client and relevant caregivers. An initial treatment plan meeting is scheduled to discuss the proposed services, objectives, and goals, ensuring a collaborative approach to care.

Flexible and Accessible Support

Recognizing the diverse needs of our clients, we offer flexibility in our service delivery, including the provision of indirect services for Behavior Plan updates and goal reviews. When needed, we can also refer families to other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
