Hello and welcome to Compassionate Care ABA!
My name is Rachel Souza, and I’m thrilled to share my journey and the heart of my practice with you. For over two decades, I’ve dedicated my life to supporting individuals with autism, driven by a deep belief in making a positive, meaningful impact.
My adventure in this field began at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where I pursued my passion for applied behavior analysis (ABA). Since becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2009, my work has focused on practical, respectful behavior support for adults with developmental disabilities and autism across home, day, work, and community settings.
Compassionate Care is centered on adult DDA Behavior Support Services. I partner with adults, caregivers, providers, and support teams to understand behavior in context, create realistic Behavior Plans, and build strategies that support safety, communication, independence, dignity, and meaningful community life.

At the onset, we conduct thorough behavioral assessments in various settings, including environmental and medical assessments, to develop a detailed Behavior Plan. This plan outlines recommended positive behavioral supports tailored to individual needs, aligning with DDA requirements.

Our ongoing services include close oversight of the Behavior Plan, offering modifications, consultations, and education to ensure its effectiveness. We work directly with individuals and caregivers, providing in-person and, when appropriate, telehealth support to facilitate the implementation of the plan.

We provide direct, time-limited assistance to adults, staff, caregivers, and support teams, enabling them to independently implement the Behavior Plan through on-site execution, modeling of strategies, and feedback on its effectiveness.

Our work is centered on Maryland DDA Behavior Support Services for adults with developmental disabilities and autism who need practical, person-centered support. A BCBA completes assessment, develops a Behavior Plan, and works with the person, caregivers, providers, and support teams to build strategies that are realistic across home, day, work, and community settings.

We ensure that the results of behavior assessments are shared with the client and relevant caregivers. An initial treatment plan meeting is scheduled to discuss the proposed services, objectives, and goals, ensuring a collaborative approach to care.

Recognizing the diverse needs of adults receiving DDA services, we offer flexible support, including indirect services for Behavior Plan updates and goal reviews. When needed, we can also coordinate referrals to other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
